On July 14, 2020, Kenya's Ministry of Health reported 497 new COVID-19 cases after conducting 4,922 tests within a 24-hour period.
The new cases bring the total number of coronavirus cases recorded since March 13 to 10,791, with a total of 221,234 tests having been conducted.
Health Chief Administrative Secretary Mercy Mwangangi noted that the new cases include 17 foreigners, with 318 males and 179 females affected.
The cases are distributed across various counties, including Nairobi (292), Kiambu (62), Kajiado (51), Machakos (30), Mombasa (28), Busia (10), Uasin Gishu (8), Nakuru (5), and Makueni (3).
Other counties, such as Narok, Nyeri, and Meru, recorded two cases each, while Kakamega, Kilifi, Kericho, Laikipia, and Nandi each reported a single case.
Mwangangi expressed concern over the high rate of infections in Nairobi, citing that the country has recorded 518 cases over a three-day period.
Unfortunately, the number of COVID-19 deaths rose to 202 on July 14, after five more patients succumbed to the virus.
However, an additional 71 cases were cleared after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of cleared cases to 3,017.
