Published on July 14, 2020, a security officer attached to Governor Hassan Joho has tested positive for COVID-19.
The officer was among those who accompanied Governor Joho to Dubai to visit Raila Odinga in hospital, but was barred from traveling after testing positive for the virus.
Four other security officers who worked with the officer have been quarantined at Mombasa Beach Hotel after one of them tested positive for COVID-19.
It is not clear whether Governor Joho has also contracted the virus, as he had interacted with the infected officer.
According to reports, Governor Joho undergoes COVID-19 tests every two weeks.
The officer, who was assigned to escort Governor Joho to Dubai, was tested in Nairobi and found to have contracted the virus.
Despite showing no symptoms, the officer tested positive for COVID-19 after being tested.
It is worth noting that Governor Joho has been undergoing regular COVID-19 tests, with the latest report indicating that he undergoes tests every two weeks.
