Kenya has reported a significant rise in coronavirus cases, with 497 new cases confirmed on July 14, 2020, bringing the total number of cases to 10,791 since the first case was reported in March.
The government has urged Kenyans to remain calm and avoid stigmatizing those who have been infected with the virus.
According to Dr. Mercy Mwangangi, the Acting Director of Health, the 497 new cases were confirmed after 4,922 samples were tested.
Dr. Mwangangi also announced that five people have died from the virus, and she appealed to Kenyans to take precautions to prevent the spread of the virus.
"This disease can affect anyone. It is essential that we protect ourselves and avoid stigmatizing those who have been infected," Dr. Mwangangi said.
The government has also warned against the spread of misinformation and urged Kenyans to rely on credible sources of information.
