On July 14, 2020, a shocking revelation shook the life of popular musician Esther Akoth, known as Akothee. Her adopted son, Shadrack Mwita, had been living with her, but it turned out he was not an orphan as he had claimed.
According to Akothee, she only discovered the truth after footing Mwita's hospital bill. The boy's family reappeared, and the pressure became too much for her to handle.
Cornered with the truth, Mwita confessed to lying about his situation. He explained that he made up the story because he couldn't continue enjoying a luxurious life while his family suffered in poverty.
However, the young boy's confession came with a request. He asked Akothee to support his family in the village by building a house for his grandmother.
Despite the deceit, Akothee maintained that she would still help the 'needy boy' establish his own place. She even volunteered to pay a whole year's rent and was on the verge of establishing a business for him.
