On July 14, 2020, the National Assembly announced it would cut short its recess to address pressing issues, with a sitting scheduled for Wednesday.

The move comes after the leader of the Majority, Dr. Amos Kimunya, requested more time to build consensus on proposed committee members, following reservations from the minority party.

The National Assembly Finance and National Planning Committee had vetted Nancy Gathungu for the position of Auditor General just a week prior.

Among the key items on the agenda is the consideration of Gathungu's nomination for the Auditor General position.

The Assembly will also consider motions for the reconstitution of specified Select and Departmental Committees.
