On July 14, 2020, Ugandan police clashed with media managers at NBS FM in Kampala over the presence of popular singer and Kyadondo east MP Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine.
Police had deployed heavily outside the station before Bobi Wine arrived, with crowds of chanting supporters gathered outside the building as he was live on air on a current affairs talk show.
According to Mr Michael Muwanguzi, the manager of NBS FM, police entered the newsroom and attempted to access the studio where Bobi Wine was being hosted, but were unable to do so due to security locks on the door.
However, police spokesperson Mr Fred Enanga denied that police had entered the station, claiming that they only deployed outside to guide Bobi Wine out of the city safely.
Enanga stated, 'Our team did not enter the station, they were outside. You can find out from the station. Because some hooligans had surrounded the station, we only wanted to make sure Bobi Wine was brought back to Kampala without causing crowds gathering around.'
