Published on July 14, 2020, a 12-year-old girl was rescued from early marriage in Maji Moto, Narok County, after being married off twice in two weeks.

The girl's father had initially married her off to a 51-year-old man, but she fled after spending two nights at the man's home.

She then went on to live with another man, aged 35, before being rescued by the Narok peace ambassadors.

Narok County peace ambassador Joshua Kaputa said instances of early and forced marriages have become rampant in the area.

He called on authorities to move with speed to arrest the culprits who are ruining the future of young girls.

The chief, Moine Mayone, warned locals against marrying off their underage girls, stating that the national government will not relent in the fight against early marriages.
