On July 12, 2020, police in Kisumu arrested a caretaker for allowing 13 teenagers to party at a house in Uzima Estate, despite the curfew.

The teenagers, aged 15 to 17, were found partying at night, with nine of them being girls. Kisumu Central OCPD Martha Ngetich stated that the caretaker had allowed the teenagers to stay in the premises past curfew time, exposing them to danger.

The teenagers had asked their parents for permission to attend a party, but failed to return home, prompting their parents to issue a report. Concerned members of the public also raised an alarm after hearing loud music coming from the house.

During the arrest, several bottles of alcohol were confiscated from the house, and it was suspected that the group was engaging in sexual activities. However, Ngetich stated that there was no evidence to support this claim.

The caretaker will be arraigned, while the teenagers were released due to lack of an isolation cell. Ngetich urged parents to take care of their children and not allow them to attend such parties, which could lead to immoral behaviors.
