Nairobi Huduma Centres Temporarily Closed for Fumigation Amid Covid-19 Surge

As the number of Covid-19 cases continues to rise in Nairobi, the State Department for Public Service has announced the temporary closure of Huduma Centres in the city for fumigation.

According to a statement from the State Department, the decision to close the centres was made due to the high number of individuals visiting the Huduma Centres and the rising number of coronavirus patients in Nairobi.

“Taking into account the rising number of Covid-19 cases in Nairobi in the past week and the high number of customer traffic we are experiencing, we will be temporarily closing Nairobi Huduma Centres for fumigation. We will start with Huduma Centre GPO on July 14, 2020,” said the statement.

The fumigation is aimed at preventing the spread of Covid-19 in the city, which has seen a significant surge in cases in recent weeks. As of July 14, 2020, the total number of novel coronavirus infections in Kenya stood at 10,294, with 197 Covid-19 related fatalities.
