Published on July 14, 2020, a total of 41 workers at Pumwani Maternity Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya, have tested positive for coronavirus.

According to Dr. Patrick Amoth, the Ministry of Health Director General, the 41 staffers are asymptomatic and are undergoing medical care under home-based isolation.

Out of the 41 staff members who have tested positive, two have since recovered, while the remaining 39 are doing well and have not shown any symptoms of COVID-19.

Dr. Amoth assured that delivery of services at the hospital will continue, with measures in place to protect the health workers and members of the public visiting the hospital.

Concerns about the outbreak emerged over the weekend after Kenya National Union of Nurses Nairobi County Chair Boaz Onchari reported that 15 nurses at the facility had tested positive and were asymptomatic.
