Published on July 14, 2020, a video of Kenyan fitness trainer Frankie crying went viral, sparking allegations that he was a deadbeat dad.
Frankie explained in the video that he tries his best to send upkeep to his ex-wife Maureen Waititu, despite their separation.
However, his efforts were questioned by many, with some suggesting that Sh6,000 per week was not enough to support his children.
But Kiss FM radio presenter Jalango has come to Frankie's defense, saying that Sh6,000 per week is sufficient to take care of his kids.
Speaking on the Morning Kiss, Jalango said,
‘6k is enough. Are you crazy? That’s 1K per week. It’s very sad to see a well-built man cry. Haufai kuwa kwenda gym na unalia.
Frankie has also responded to the allegations, saying that he sends Sh6,000 per week for his children’s upkeep and personally spends Sh2,500.
He added that he pays Sh150,000 per semester for his son’s school fees at Montessori and that his mum helps him with a percentage of that.
Frankie also explained that his children have always had two nannies until recently, and he was paying both of them. He said he had an agreement with his ex-wife on how to split the nannies’ salary.
He continued,
‘I really don’t see where the part of the deadbeat dad comes in based on that explanation. Yesterday (Saturday, June 11) I actually paid for online classes on Zoom. I want to ask you guys to really think hard about what a deadbeat dad means because I take care of my kids at all times.
