Published on July 14, 2020, Amina Abdi Rabar, a vocal media personality, has shared her reasons for quitting music, citing frustrations in the Kenyan music industry.

Best known for her hit songs 'Paint Town Red' featuring Octopizzo and 'On Me' with Jay A, Amina's music career was cut short due to financial strains and bribery.

'It was the bribing you had to do and because I was on radio and no one was paying me to play any of the music,' Amina said, highlighting the challenges she faced.

She also spoke about the high cost of music production, stating that she was told a good quality video would cost 300,000 Kenyan shillings, while she was only earning around 15,000 shillings at the time.

Despite the setbacks, Amina is planning to make a comeback to music after a 10-year hiatus, but this time, she will do it as a hobby, with her main focus remaining in the media industry.

Amina also praised her husband, DJ John Rabar, who co-founded Homeboyz Radio, where Amina started her media career. She credited him with being her driving force and pushing her to work harder.
