On Monday morning, a chopper crash in Kitui County claimed the lives of two pilots, leaving the nation in mourning.
One of the pilots, Major Jacob Agunda, has been identified through social media tributes from friends and family.
Photos of Agunda have been shared on social media, with many eulogizing him and sending condolences to his family.
As tributes pour in, Kenyans are remembering Agunda's life and legacy, with many recalling his time as a leader and captain at Ngere Boys.
"As Ngere Boys family, we mourn a comrade, a leader and a captain," wrote Lithow Yule Mmoja. "Harambee dorm captain class of 2005, Major Jacob Agunda departs!! A very jovial humble man who really inspired us when we were Mono's" shine your way through Captain tena Kiongozi!!"
Others have shared their own memories of Agunda, including Winnie Alaro, who described him as "the best brother from another mother".
"When I crashed my car you were the only family that showed up, and made sure I was safe," Alaro wrote. "We went our separate ways and our friendship never died... finally your dream came true but DEATH did not give you a chance to enjoy it with your young Family. Shine on your way," she added.
Agunda's death is not the first time a Kenyan pilot has lost their life in a chopper crash. In 2001, Paul Habbakuk Okello died in a similar incident.
As the nation mourns the loss of Major Agunda and his co-pilot, many are taking to social media to share their condolences and memories of the fallen pilot.
