July 14, 2020, marks a significant day in the investigation into the death of Tecra Muigai, the daughter of Keroche Breweries CEO Tabitha Karanja. Her boyfriend, Omar Lali, is now set to face murder charges following a ruling by Lamu Law Courts principal magistrate Allan Temba.

Tecra's death occurred on April 28, 2020, at a private residence in Shella on Lamu Island, where she was living with Lali. According to initial reports, she fell down a flight of stairs, but Lali later changed his account to say she had tripped in the bathroom.

However, detectives probing the matter found inconsistencies in Lali's account, leading to the murder charges. The investigation revealed that Tecra was found unresponsive at the bottom of the staircase by neighbors, who then woke Lali.

"Witnesses said blood was oozing from her nose and mouth though many were unable to explain how she fell, or what could have triggered the fall," a report in a local daily stated.

After receiving news of her daughter's accident, Tabitha Karanja chartered a private chopper to airlift Tecra to the Nairobi Hospital on April 27, 2020. Unfortunately, Tecra passed away on Saturday, three days after being admitted to the ICU.
