On July 14, 2020, a heated exchange between Jubilee Party leaders escalated, with Secretary General Raphael Tuju firing back at his deputy Caleb Kositany.
Tuju's response came after Kositany demanded access to the party's account, but Tuju told him to proceed and obtain the necessary documents, which he claimed were public records.
Tuju also criticized Kositany for still enjoying party privileges despite taking the party to court and later relinquishing the charges.
"Calling yourself the deputy secretary-general," Tuju stated, adding that they were only waiting for a certificate from the auditor.
Tuju's comments were seen as a swipe at Kositany's leadership, with some interpreting them as a sign of the party's division between those supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta and those backing Deputy President William Ruto.
"All these exposed is an extreme form of megalomaniacal behavior," Tuju wrote, suggesting that Kositany should address his concerns to the party's treasurer and NEC member, Alfred Kipkorir Mutai.
