On July 14, 2020, Atheists in Kenya (AIK) publicly endorsed the Reproductive Health Bill tabled by Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika.

The Bill, which aims to provide women with reproductive choices, has been met with opposition from some quarters, including Muslim leaders and the Catholic Church.

AIK President Harrison Mumia praised the Bill as progressive, saying it will enable people to make informed decisions about when to give birth and when not to.

According to Mumia, the Bill will increase educational and economic opportunities for women, lead to healthier families and communities, and provide a chance for women facing difficulties in conceiving children naturally to get children through surrogate reproduction.

He also criticized those opposing the Bill, urging senators to support and pass it, citing the need to prevent deaths caused by unsafe abortions.
