Manchester United's Champions League qualification hopes took a hit on Monday, July 13, 2020, as Southampton's Michael Obafemi scored an equaliser deep in stoppage time, earning the Saints a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford.

On the day when Manchester City's two-year ban from European football was overturned on appeal, United stayed in fifth place on 59 points, with Leicester City fourth and Chelsea third on 60 points.

Southampton took the lead in the 12th minute when Paul Pogba was robbed by Danny Ings, and Nathan Redmond's cross found Stuart Armstrong at the back post, where the Scottish midfielder slotted home.

However, Manchester United equalised through Marcus Rashford, who converted a low cross from Luke Shaw, although the goal was initially ruled out for offside.

Anthony Martial then scored in the 20th minute, poking the ball to Rashford, who made no mistake with a left-foot finish.

Three minutes later, United had the lead, with Bruno Fernandes feeding Martial on the left, and the French international cut inside and smashed the ball home.

However, United finished the game with 10 men after Brandon Williams went off injured, and they failed to hold on to the three points when Obafemi turned in a corner at the back post.
