On July 14, 2020, the High Court temporarily halted the KSh 58 million fraud case against former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero and others.
Evans Kidero, along with George Wainaina, John Kariuki, Paul Mutungi, Manasseh Kepha, Philomena Nzuki, and ten others, were set to plead afresh on Monday morning to offenses allegedly committed in 2014.
The prosecution alleged that the group conspired to defraud the Nairobi City County of KSh 58 million.
However, Kidero moved to the High Court, challenging the prosecution's decision.
He argued that the fresh charges leveled against him were defective.
