Mediamax Network Limited, the parent company of K24 and Milele FM, has confirmed that one of its employees has tested positive for COVID-19.

The employee, who works in the finance department, has been isolated and is being treated at home.

According to a memo sent to Mediamax employees, the infected employee had already been identified and instructed to self-isolate before the company was notified of the positive test result.

Mediamax has also begun tracing and testing all employees who came into contact with the infected employee.

On July 13, 2020, the company shut down its third-floor offices, which are located in the same building as its K24 studio, for disinfection and to reduce the risk of further transmission.

Mediamax's decision to quarantine its employees and shut down its offices comes as the number of COVID-19 cases in Kenya continues to rise.

On July 13, 2020, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced that 189 new cases of COVID-19 had been confirmed, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 10,294.

Kenya Broadcasting Corporation also reported that two of its employees had tested positive for COVID-19.
