On July 13, 2020, Ainabkoi Member of Parliament William Chepkut made public his grievances against Deputy President William Ruto, accusing him of corruption.

Chepkut alleged that Ruto's focus on projects is driven by personal gain, rather than a genuine desire to improve the lives of Kenyans.

According to Chepkut, Ruto has been involved in numerous projects across the country, but has prioritized making profits over ensuring the projects are completed successfully.

The lawmaker also claimed that Ruto has been pocketing billions of shillings from government projects, using the funds to support his election campaigns.

“William Ruto has never been that serious on matters pertaining to projects, he is only concerned with huge profits and contractors as in the case of KABUITO CONTRACTORS LTD,” Chepkut said.

Chepkut pointed to the Rivertex-Kapkatembo road project as an example of Ruto's alleged corruption, stating that the project was initially valued at over three billion shillings but was completed for less than a billion.

“The altar of profits is assassinating the role of integrity,” Chepkut added.
