Mediamax Employee Tests Positive for Covid-19, Colleagues Ordered to Self-Isolate

Published on July 13, 2020, Nairobi News reported that several employees of the Mediamax Network Limited were ordered to self-isolate after a finance department employee tested positive for Covid-19.

According to an internal memo, the affected employee had already self-isolated at home, exhibiting mild symptoms.

Mediamax CEO Ken Ngaruiya confirmed the incident in a memo, stating, 'Please be informed that one employee in the Finance Department has tested positive for Covid-19 after exhibiting mild symptoms. The employee has already self-isolated in accordance with home-based care guidelines.'

The company, which owns K24 TV and Milele FM, locked down its third-floor offices and plans to fumigate the area to control the spread of the disease.

Mr. Ngaruiya also announced that the company was tracing people who came into contact with the affected employee.

Kenya's Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced 189 new Covid-19 cases and 12 fresh deaths on the same day, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 10,294.
