On May 19, 2020, a hawker was brutally attacked by a group of youth in Juja, Kiambu County. The victim, who was selling face masks, was allegedly identified by the attackers as Kelvin Mwangi Warui.

According to reports, the attackers, who were armed with a wire and a stick, demanded that Warui hand over his goods. Warui was allegedly forced to surrender his goods, including face masks, and was later identified by the attackers as the person they were looking for.

Warui was then tied up and left for dead. However, he managed to escape and later reported the incident to the police.

Rio, whose real name is Kelvin Abuga Auma, was later arrested and charged with robbery with violence and assault. He appeared before Makadara Principal Magistrate Merissa Opondo and was released on a bond of Ksh. 300,000.

However, Rio has denied the charges, claiming that he has witnesses who will testify in his defense. The case is set to continue on September 22, 2020.
