On July 13, 2020, a Kenya Defence Forces helicopter crashed in a farm at Kanyonga village, Kithyoko in Machakos County, resulting in the deaths of two senior military officers.
The officers, both of the rank of major, died instantly after the army chopper crashed at around 11:30 am.
According to a report filed at the Kithyoko Police Station by local assistant chief Daniel Muthoka, the helicopter, registration AU003-539, belonged to the Kenya Army and crashed approximately 15 kilometers northwest of the station.
