On Monday, a tragic incident occurred in Kirinyaga, leaving a 35-year-old man dead and two police officers injured.
The victim, Samuel Kathigo, was struck by a speeding Toyota Probox Miraa vehicle while on his way to buy meat in Ngurubani.
Angry residents, who blamed Miraa drivers for their recklessness, descended on the driver and two police officers who attempted to protect him.
The driver was taken to the Kimbimbi sub-county Hospital for treatment, while the body of the late Samuel Kathigo was taken to the Kibugi Funeral Home in Kutus, awaiting a post-mortem.
