On 13 July, Omar Lali, the boyfriend of the late Keroche heiress Tecra Muigai, was charged with murder in a Lamu court.
The charges were brought following Tecra's death in May, after she was found unconscious at a private house in Shella, Lamu Island, where she was staying with her boyfriend.
According to reports, Tecra was rushed to Nairobi Hospital for medical treatment but unfortunately did not survive.
The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) reviewed phone records, detailed post-mortem reports, and toxicological evidence before recommending the charges against Lali.
Lawyers representing the Keroche family, led by Siaya County Senator James Orengo, asked Lali to be arraigned in court to take a plea.
