Published on July 13, 2020, Kenya has recorded 12 Covid-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours, the highest number of daily fatalities since the country announced its first case of the virus in March.
According to Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, all 12 cases are from Nairobi, with some dying at home and others in hospital.
The latest deaths bring the number of those who have succumbed to the disease in the country to 197.
Kenya's pandemic cases have hit 10,294, after 189 more people tested positive, out of 1,205 samples tested.
Of the new cases, 106 are male and 83 are female, with the youngest being 5 and the oldest 71, as reported by Kagwe.
Meanwhile, 65 Covid-19 patients had been discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours.
The new cases were recorded in Nairobi (147), Kiambu (20), Machakos (11), Kajiado (five), and Mombasa (two).
