On July 13, 2020, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga quietly returned to Kenya after a successful surgery in Dubai.

According to reports, Odinga arrived at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Sunday night aboard a private jet, the Constellation Aviation Airline Airbus A318-112(CJ) Elite A6.

His return comes after a three-week stay in the United Arab Emirates, where he underwent a minor back surgery. On July 1, Odinga had given an update on his health, thanking supporters for their messages of goodwill.

His daughter, Winnie Odinga, had also shared a video of her father's progress, where he was seen standing upright and assured Kenyans he was in good health.

On Thursday, Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho and Suna East MP Junet Mohamed had travelled to Dubai to visit Odinga and wish him a speedy recovery.

“Delighted to see my party leader Baba Raila Odinga looking fit and in high spirits after undergoing the surgical procedure in Dubai last week. We in Mombasa and the country at large continue to pray for his speedy recovery and a safe return home,” Joho tweeted.
