Kenya's coronavirus death toll rose to 197 on July 13, 2020, after the health ministry confirmed 12 additional virus-related deaths, the highest single-day toll recorded in the country.
Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe emphasized the need for personal responsibility in containing the spread of the virus, following the increase in deaths.
According to Kagwe, 65 more patients were discharged from various hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,946.
The new figure represents a 1.9 per cent case fatality rate, a 0.1 percentage variation from the 1.8 per cent reported on July 12, 2020.
