July 13, 2020 - A record 12 persons have succumbed to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths to 197.
According to Health CS Mutahi Kagwe, the country recorded its highest number of deaths since the first COVID-19 positive case was reported.
Out of 1,205 samples tested, 189 tested positive for the virus, bringing the total number of positive cases to 10,294.
Of the new cases, 106 are male, 83 are female, with the youngest being 5 years old and the oldest 71 years old.
On a positive note, 65 patients were discharged from various hospitals in the last 24 hours, with total recoveries now standing at 2,946.
The 12 who passed away were from Nairobi County and were mostly in isolation centers in various hospitals in the county.
The distribution of positive cases by county is as follows: Nairobi (147), Kiambu (20), Machakos (11), Kajiado (5), Mombasa (2), Uasin Gishu, Kisumu, Laikipia, and Kericho each with one case.
