On Monday, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced that 12 Kenyans had died from the new coronavirus, bringing the total number of fatalities to 197.
During a televised statement, CS Kagwe also announced 189 new cases of the novel coronavirus, pushing the country's total to 10,294.
The new cases were from 1,205 samples tested in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of samples tested so far to 216,242.
Of the new cases, 106 were male and 83 were female, aged between 5 and 71 years old.
The cases were distributed across the country, with Nairobi recording the highest number of cases at 147, followed by Kiambu with 20 cases.
At the same time, 65 patients were discharged from various facilities, bringing the number of recoveries since the pandemic was reported in the country to 2,946.
According to CS Kagwe, the new cases are from 1,205 samples tested in the last 24 hours, and push the total number of samples tested so far to 216,242.
