On July 13, 2020, Mombasa Governor Hassan Ali Joho expressed optimism about the completion of the Comprehensive Cancer Centre, a project undertaken by Mombasa County and the National governments.

The ultra-modern facility, located within the Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital compound, will provide radiotherapy treatment to patients in the region.

Speaking on the project, Governor Joho stated, “Very soon patients in the coastal region requiring radiotherapy will not have to go to Nairobi to seek the treatment.”

The facility will be a major boost to the existing Day Care Chemotherapy Centre, according to the governor.
