Published on July 13, 2020, Nairobi News reported on the challenges faced by Kenyan footballer Cliff Nyakeya during the coronavirus pandemic.
Just before the pandemic, Nyakeya had become a regular at Egyptian top-tier side FC Masr, playing four consecutive games.
However, the league was halted due to the pandemic, forcing Nyakeya to stay in Egypt for two months.
"I had just started enjoying my football and had played four games consecutively. This pandemic really halted my progress since the league had to be stopped and it was very difficult for me to get a flight back home," Nyakeya said.
Despite the challenges, Nyakeya remains optimistic about his future in football, hoping to become a regular in the national team, Harambee Stars, and secure a move to Europe.
