On July 13, 2020, Dr Adisa Lugaliki Doreen, the first Kenyan doctor to succumb to COVID-19, was laid to rest at her home in Ndalu Scheme, Bungoma County.

Dr Adisa's untimely passing has left a void in the lives of her loved ones, including her twins, Kyle Kimilu and Kyla Ndinda.

In a heartfelt tribute, Kyla wrote, 'My mother was a beautiful, funny, delightful, and basically the life of the party kind of person. She has been the best mother I could ask for. We have had our disagreements but they did not get in the way of our relationship. My mother has been saving people's lives ever since I was born. So the fact that hers was taken away by COVID-19 leaves me in a daze.'

Dr Adisa's legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched as a dedicated medical professional.
