On July 13, 2020, a tragic incident occurred in Machakos County when a Kenya Defense Forces plane crashed in the Kanyonga Area of Masinga Sub County, resulting in the loss of at least two lives.

The military aircraft, which are often used to ferry troops, food, and humanitarian aid, as well as senior government officials, was involved in the accident.

It is unclear at this time whether the victims were KDF staff or government officials.

This incident comes just a month after a Kenya Police helicopter crashed in a banana plantation in Meru County, injuring four people.

The government has faced criticism for failing to publicize reports on air accidents.
