Co-op Bank Unveils API to Foster Digital Partnerships

Published on July 13, 2020

Co-op Bank has taken a significant step towards promoting digital partnerships and innovation by launching its application program interface (API). This move aims to build disruptive business models and platforms that deliver a seamless customer experience.

According to Co-op Bank, the API is designed to enable co-creation and innovation that benefits people, businesses, and society as a whole. The bank believes that innovative products and services are key to success, and the API is a crucial step towards achieving this goal.

The Co-op APIs, dubbed Co-opConnect, will enable the bank to publish as many banking services as possible, allowing Corporate and Sacco customers to add value to their mobile apps and web services.

The APIs fall into two categories: account information services and transactional APIs. The transactional APIs will enable internal funds transfer, Pesalink send to account, instant notification service, and sending money from a Co-opbank account to an M-Pesa wallet.

The account information services APIs will enable account balance inquiry, account transaction inquiry, account mini statement, exchange rate enquiry, account validation, and status enquiry.

Leading organizations and FinTechs have already provided positive reviews, casting the Co-op APIs as user-friendly. The APIs are accessible from the web or mobile application, safe and secure, and come with a simplified integration process.

Co-op Bank's API is accessible from https://developer.co-opbank.co.ke:9443/store/apis/home.
