On July 13, 2020, a dramatic incident unfolded at the Machinery Police Station in Makueni County, leaving a detective with severe burns.
According to a report filed by Police Constable Joshua Makanga, his wife, Detective Dorina Luchera, set herself on fire after a domestic dispute.
‘Police officers rushed to the scene and found that the officer had sustained 52 percent burns all over her body,’ Makanga reported.
Despite the severity of her injuries, Detective Luchera was taken to the Kibwezi Sub-County Hospital and is currently in fair condition.
