On Monday, July 13, 2020, Embakasi East Member of Parliament (MP) Babu Owino unveiled an ambitious plan to provide scholarships to deserving students across the country.
As part of this initiative, the MP has also planned to establish a website where students can access learning materials, including past papers, tutorials, and short notes for various subjects.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Babu explained that students can apply for the scholarships through a mobile application and the website, which will be launched after a month.
"We are going to come up with a mobile application where students are going to subscribe. Then we will get their details through the app and the website then communicate to deserving ones," he stated.
The website is expected to cater to high school students, from Form One to Form Four, but Babu noted that it could be extended to other levels of education if there is public demand.
He also promised to continue with his online classes, which have attracted international attention, and to make further contributions to the Kenyan education system when schools resume in January 2021.
