On May 2, 2020, Tecra Muigai, the heiress to Keroche Breweries, tragically died in a private house on Shella, Lamu Island, where she was staying with her boyfriend, Omar Lali.
According to reports, Tecra fell and was taken to a local dispensary before being airlifted to Nairobi for treatment, but unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries.
Following her death, Omar Lali was arrested by police on suspicion that he had pushed Tecra to her death, with reports suggesting that there was an argument between them before the incident.
However, Lali's lawyer has vehemently rejected these claims, stating that there was no argument between the couple.
Earlier in May, a court had rejected an application to continue holding Lali in detention, with Lamu Principal Magistrate Allan Temba refusing to extend the pre-trial detention on various grounds.
