On July 13, 2020, a tragic incident shook the city of Toulouse, France, as Christopher Aurier, the younger brother of Tottenham defender Serge Aurier, lost his life in a shooting.
According to a police source, emergency services arrived at the scene at 5:00 am local time (0300 GMT) to find the 26-year-old injured in the abdomen. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries in hospital, as confirmed by the fire service.
The investigation is ongoing, with a source close to the inquiry stating that the gunman fled the scene.
Christopher Aurier, a footballer who played for French fifth-division team Toulouse Rodeo, had a similar background to his older brother, Serge Aurier, an Ivorian international and former Paris Saint-Germain full-back. However, he failed to break through to the highest level, having come through the youth academy at Lens.
