Cold Solutions Invests Sh7.5 Billion in Kenya

July 13, 2020 - Nairobi, Kenya. Cold Solutions Kenya Limited, a leading temperature-controlled warehouse and logistics service provider, has announced a Sh7.5 billion (USD 70 million) investment in constructing state-of-the-art cold storage warehouses in the country.

The cold storage facilities will be located in Nairobi and Mombasa, with the flagship facility to be constructed in Tatu City Special Economic Zone in Nairobi.

The 15,000 sqm grade 'A' cold storage complex on six acres at Tatu City will be the country's largest, most advanced, and efficient in the region, catering to numerous temperature ranges and multiple product ranges.

Expected to be operational in 12 to 18 months, the facility has been designed to accommodate various products, including fresh produce, pharmaceuticals, and frozen foods.

Cold Solutions Kenya Limited is a portfolio company of ARCH Cold Chain Solutions East Africa Fund, a private equity fund advised by ARCH Emerging Markets Partners Limited.

According to Jared Irving, Managing Director of ARCH Emerging Markets Partners Limited, the investment aims to establish a network of industrial-scale cold chain solutions throughout East Africa.

Chris Barron, Kenya Country Head for Rendeavour, Tatu City's owner and developer, welcomed the investment, stating that it will bring dependability and reliability to businesses in the region.
