On July 13, 2020, the High Court temporarily halted a Sh58 million fraud case against former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero and others.
The move came after Dr. Kidero filed an application protesting the decision of the public prosecutor to charge him afresh.
Dr. Kidero argued that the fresh charges brought against him were defective.
He and 11 others, including George Wainaina, John Kariuki, Paul Mutungi, Manasseh Kepha, and Philomena Nzuki, were set to plead afresh to offences allegedly committed in 2014.
The allegations against them included conspiring to defraud the Nairobi City County of Sh58 million.
