As the government delays the reopening of schools until January next year, Prudential Life Assurance Kenya has made a significant donation to support the education of 15,000 secondary school students from underprivileged families. The company has donated learning materials valued at Ksh 9.3 million to 50 schools across the country.
The beneficiaries will receive printed learning materials, with over 11,250 students in Form 1, 2, and 3 receiving reading and revision materials, and 3,750 Form 4 learners receiving revision materials to prepare for the national exams.
Additionally, the two-month project will provide sanitary wear for more than 4,000 female learners, addressing a critical need in rural communities where access to virtual learning opportunities is limited.
“Education is an important investment by any community in its people, and we appreciate the hardships that students have to endure daily due to the closure of schools, which compromises their ability to keep up with their education especially during this time of Covid-19,” said Prudential Kenya Chief Executive Officer Mr. Raxit Soni.
The project is supported by Prudence Foundation, the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm, and is a continuation of Prudential’s partnership with the Kenya Education Fund (KEF), which began in 2014 to support initiatives that improve access to quality education for children from underprivileged families and communities in Kenya.
