On July 13, 2020, the High Court intervened in a Ksh. 58 million fraud case against former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero and others.

The case, which was set to proceed on Monday morning, has been temporarily halted pending further action.

Evans Kidero, along with George Wainaina, John Kariuki, Paul Mutungi, Manasseh Kepha, Philomena Nzuki, and ten others, were accused of conspiring to defraud the Nairobi City County of Ksh. 58 million in 2014.

However, Kidero challenged the prosecution's decision, arguing that the fresh charges against him were defective.

As a result, the High Court has temporarily stopped the case, allowing Kidero and the others to plead afresh at a later date.
