On July 13, 2020, a COVID-19 positive case was discharged from a Nairobi hospital and traveled to Bomet County the following morning.
The patient interacted with seven other passengers aboard a South Rift Matatu during the journey.
Upon arrival in Bomet, the patient alighted at Longisa alongside two others, with two more passengers alighting at Bomet town, one between Chebole and Kapkatet, and two at Litein.
Health officials have now identified the asymptomatic patient and are in isolation at the Longisa hospital.
However, the nightmare of contact tracing the rest of the passengers has become a high priority, with health officials appealing to the other passengers to reach out to the county response team.
"We are making an appeal with the passengers who travelled to get in touch with our officer. Please reach out to our officer on this number 0726012387. You will be given instructions on what to do so that all of us are safe," Bomet Governor Hillary Barchok said.
