Arsenal's hopes of qualifying for European football next season suffered a significant blow after they lost 2-1 to Tottenham in a London derby on July 12.
The Gunners took an early lead through Alexander Lacazette's 15th-minute opener, but Tottenham staged a stunning comeback to win the match.
Spurs' Son Heung-Min equalized in the 19th minute, and Toby Alderweireld scored the winner in the 80th minute to seal the victory for Jose Mourinho's side.
The defeat saw Arsenal drop to ninth place in the league standings, five points adrift of the top six that would guarantee them European football.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta conceded that his side is in danger of missing out on European football next season.
Arteta called on his players to step up in the three remaining matches to end the season and ensure the north London outfit wraps up the campaign on a high.
“Point-wise it is a massive blow because we know the results this weekend. But we will keep trying while we have hope: one way in the league, the other way in the FA Cup,” Arteta said after the match.
