Kenyan musician Kenzo Matata has made a triumphant return to the music scene with his uplifting song 'Prayer', which has been receiving constant airplay and rave reviews since its launch slightly over a month ago.
Published on July 13, 2020, by Nairobi News, Matata spoke about the inspiration behind his new hit, saying it came from deep within, and that he has always wanted to do an uplifting song to help people get through different circumstances.
Matata, who has been soul searching for a while, explained that everything is explained in the song, which was produced by his good friend Hopetone Blaze of Everblazing Production, a Kenyan producer based in Germany.
Reggae has always been a part of Matata's life, and he chose to do 'Prayer' in a reggae style to give it a unique vibe. He also credited his previous songs 'Zam Zam' and 'Mama' for showcasing his reggae style.
Matata has worked with many production houses, including Ogopa where he started, but he is now working with Everblazing Productions, which he says is a whole different vibe. He is trying to get that international connection going on, and working with a producer who has worked with renowned reggae artistes like Sizzla and Mavado is a big step in the right direction for him.
Matata has been out of the limelight for a while, but he has been recording and playing football. He plays for South B Allstars, but is currently on loan to South B United Sports Academy (SUSA). He also does alcohol deliveries as a side hustle, and is a family man now, with a new song 'Prayer' being a dedication to his son Tumiso.
Matata is taking it as it comes, and is working on a reggae album which will capture all aspects of his music. He is excited to share his new music with his fans, and is grateful for the gift of music and the opportunity to be still here.
