Published on July 13, 2020, Emirates, the world's largest long-haul carrier, has announced plans to cut up to 9,000 jobs due to the devastating effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
According to the airline's president, this marks the first time Emirates has disclosed the number of jobs that will be lost. Prior to the crisis, the airline had a staff of 60,000.
The global airline industry has been severely impacted by the pandemic, with activity grinding to a near-halt.
