On July 10, 2020, the body of Martha Muthoni, a 35-year-old businesswoman, was found in a maize plantation in Solai, Nakuru County.
According to police, Muthoni had left her home in the company of her ex-lover, who had promised to help her obtain farm inputs.
The two had traveled over 30 kilometers from Muthoni's home in Bahati to the scene of the crime in Solai, Rongai Sub-County.
Residents reported that Muthoni had fallen out with her ex-lover at the beginning of the year, and he had relocated to Njoro, about 60 kilometers away.
Police Commander Richard Rotich stated that the suspect had returned alone to Muthoni's home and informed her son about her death.
The residents then arrested the suspect and handed him over to the police, who are continuing their investigations.
Rotich said, 'The suspect who was fleeing to Njoro was arrested at Maili Saba. He is being detained at Bahati Police Station as investigations continue.'
Residents had embarked on a search for Muthoni's body, which took over six hours to find.
Police said Muthoni had a stab wound, which might have led to her death.
