COVID-19: Nairobi-Bomet Traveler Tests Positive ¶
On July 12, 2020, a man who traveled from Nairobi to Bomet after the cessation of movement order was lifted tested positive for COVID-19.
Bomet Governor Hillary Barchok confirmed the development and stated that the county had begun contact tracing of the passengers who traveled with the new patient.
As of July 12, 2020, the number of recoveries in Kenya stood at 2,881, while the death toll was 185 with the national tally being 10,105.
President Uhuru Kenyatta had lifted partial lockdown in Nairobi, Mombasa, and Mandera counties a week prior, and extended the nationwide dusk to dawn curfew for an extra 30 days.
Speaking to NTV, Barchok urged residents to be cautious and avoid traveling if they are positive, saying, "If you have been confirmed to be positive, please do not travel until you are declared free of coronavirus."
He also appealed to Nairobians to desist from traveling if they knew they were positive.
