Kenyans Less Worried About COVID-19 Than in April, Study Finds

Published on July 12, 2020, a report by TIFA Research indicates a shift in public perception regarding the COVID-19 pandemic in Kenya.

According to the study, the percentage of respondents who were very worried about contracting the virus decreased from 72% in April to 54% in July.

While 54% of the study's participants believe that the worst of the pandemic is yet to come, 38% are optimistic that things will improve under the new normal.

Kenya is expected to experience a peak in coronavirus cases in August and September, with the Ministry of Health predicting a likelihood of reporting more than 200 cases daily during this period.

On July 10, Kenya recorded 447 cases of the new coronavirus, the highest number of cases confirmed in a single day since the pandemic was first reported in March.

As of July 11, the country's total case load stood at 9,726, with 184 fatalities and 2,832 recoveries since the pandemic began.
